Delgado to choose between Florida and the Mets?

Sportsnet Canada is reporting that Carlos Delgado will choose between the Mets and the Marlins this week.

Bad news for the Rangers, if true...but given that Tom Hicks and a contingent of Ranger brass are supposedly meeting with Delgado later this week, we might want to take this report with a grain of salt.

I don't know how much you want to trust a baseball story that comes from a site with a big "HOCKEY CENTRAL" banner at the top of the story...

Actually, I'm taking the whole "We're interested in signing Delgado" stance from the Rangers with a grain of salt. They have no interest.

Hicks is comfortable with an Expos-like payroll as long as he's still making a profit.

Rangers payroll is said to be around $52-$55 million, when you take away Chan Ho Park, it's in the Montreal Expos range of $38-$42 million. So basically the Rangers have a payroll of $40 million plus the dead money on Chan Ho Park and A-Rod. A top-five market, a team with a $109 million payroll 2-3 years back, and it's fallen to this.

Sell the team Hicks, and get the hell out of Texas.
