Mets, Beltran agree to a 7 year, $119 million deal

According to New York Newsday, the Mets and Carlos Beltran have agreed to a 7 year, $119 million deal.

Now, let the other dominos start falling.

One other thing that has been brought up...it will be interesting to see whether the Mets are going to try to move Mike Cameron now. He's the best defensive CF in the game, gets on base, hits for power, steals bases...and the Mets would likely pay some of his contract if someone would take him...

Again, as with Cliff Floyd, something the Rangers should look at...

Would the Rangers seriously consider going after Mike Cameron? I know he is an amazing defensive centerfielder. If we somehow got him, what would we give up? And what would we do with our outfielders? Move Laynce Nix to DH? Or Mench? I think Cameron would be a great addition to the OF, but personally I feel that if we would have to trade Soriano for Cameron, I would rather try to trade him to Houston for Backe. Pitching is the key in the long-run, and Backe is a young stud who could help us for years.
The Rangers were interested in Cameron when he was a free agent. I'm not sure how much interest they still have in him, or what they'd give up (and want NY to pay).

Since Cameron will likely miss the first 4-6 weeks, I'd see how things shake out until he returns. Then put him in CF, and either put Nix in AAA (where he probably should have been last year) if he isn't hitting, or put Nix in RF, and either let him platoon with Hidalgo, or put Hidalgo at DH.

Backe is a nice pitcher, but I wouldn't call him a young stud.
